RACE DAY INFO FOR DISABLED ATHLETES
Thank you for choosing Maratona di Roma. Herewith is the Race Day Info: please read carefully!
RECEPTION Breakfast will be served on race day starting at 6am for those athletes staying at the “Hotel dello Sport Acqua Acetosa”. Along with an “Italian” breakfast, pasta will also be served upon request (please inform the reception the day before).
On the race day morning (21 March) all athletes and assistants should be outside the Hotel dello Sport Acqua Acetosa by 6:30am. Wheelchairs and hand-bikes will be loaded onto minibuses. Departure is scheduled for 6:45am. Unauthorized assistants must reach the start area on their own.
A cloakroom tent will be available at the start/finish area in Largo Corrado Ricci (Via dei Fori Imperiali), where all the athletes must gather at 7:30am. There you will also find toilets and a refreshment station.
BIB NUMBER AND HELMET Bib numbers are allocated on the basis of PBs declared at the time of registration. Since your bib number also displays your personal data, it must only be worn by you. Absolutely no swapping is allowed. Check for mistakes and report them immediately to staff in charge. The bib number must be affixed properly on the front of your race t-shirt and made visible. Apply the two stickers on both sides of your helmet and make them visible. Do not alter in any way our sponsors’ names and logos: we could not have organized this race without their help! If you have any problems with your race number or registration, please go to the “bib number pick-up” point at the Marathon Village.
HELMETS ARE REQUIRED: NO HELMET, NO PARTICIPATION.
CHIP TIMING SERVICE AND CHECKPOINTS This service will be provided by Timing Data Service. There will be eight checkpoints with video cameras set up along the racecourse – including the finish. Illegal actions revealed by the cameras will result in immediate disqualification. If you out, return the chip at any refreshment- / sponge- / First Aid station or at the luggage pick-up area at the finish. Athletes will be fined € 20.00 for any unreturned chip and sports clubs will be held responsible for delinquent payments.
ENTERING THE START AREA: HANDBIKERS AND WHEELCHAIR ATHLETES Meet at 8:40am under the starting bridge, Via dei Fori Imperiali. The race begins at 08:55am.
The other disabled athletes will start the race at 9:00am, together with non-disabled athletes.
RULES OF CONDUCT Non-disabled runners start at 9:00am. If they surpass you, please do not get in their way. Respect them and they will respect you. We also ask that you not take advantage of the slipstream that your assistant might create while cycling, as this is not fair to your fellow competitors.
