Values carved in metal: a fusion of sports and arts by Nena.
Nena tells the story of ETHIOPIAN RUNNER Abebe Bikila from a new point of view. In Nena's interpretation, the actual Ethiopian runner becomes a myth: an androginous runner with long hair and European complexion, running barefoot and wearing number 11 on his chest, just like Abebe Bikila did in 1960. It's the World's Runner, black and white, man and woman, professional and amateur. Nena depicted Abebe Bikila's values, which he shares with all marathon runners of the world.
Our official slogan "Let's beat discrimination" carries a message which is old and new at the same time: we are all part of one family.
The purity of design is a celebration of the feeling of pure joy one feels when running. Nena makes all his objects by hand: this makes each piece a unique object.
We are talking about the medal for the 2010 edition of Maratona di Roma.
